High streets ‘may very quickly become mostly residential’ under new permitted development rights, lawyer warns

A planning lawyer has warned that many high streets “may very quickly become predominantly residential” unless councils take action to restrict the government’s latest easing of planning rules to allow a host of town centre uses to convert to new housing.
